Coastal Knots was founded by Jen Johansen, a lifelong maker with a love for the ocean and a deep appreciation for working with her hands. Jen grew up in Carpinteria, where beach days, craft projects, and coastal living shaped her creative spirit from the start.
Friendship bracelets, bead looms, and lanyards were just the beginning. Jen was always crafting, well before she ever discovered macramé. Her love for making things started early and never really stopped. She’s been creating for as long as she can remember, long before she knew it would grow into something she’d one day share with others.
Coastal Knots is about more than just fiber art. It’s about slowing down, making something from scratch, and reconnecting with creativity in a relaxed, welcoming space. Jen brings her coastal roots, eye for design, and passion for hands-on crafting into every workshop, whether you’re a beginner or just looking to unwind and make something beautiful.
Each piece and project is inspired by the textures, colors, and calm of the coast, simple materials, thoughtful design, and that handmade feeling you can’t replicate any other way.
